Steve Raiser, founding partner, of Raiser & Kenniff, PC, recently appeared on Justice w/Judge Jeanine, providing legal insight on the newly released documents on the JonBenet Ramsey case.
Based on these previously sealed documents, it appears that a Colorado grand jury voted in 1999 to indict the parents of the slain 6 year old. The jury voted on indicting the parents for child abuse resulting in death, and being accessories to a crime.
The DA at the time, decided not to file charges. Citing insufficient evidence, John and Patricia Ramsey were not pursued. In 2008, a new DA said DNA evidence cleared the parents and their son in the death.
The case has never been solved, and while the released documents have put the tragedy back in the national spotlight, they do not necessary mean there are new leads to pursue.
